Skateboard decks

When skateboards were invented, they were mainly used as devices to practice surfing during the off-season. These skateboard decks mainly consisted of roller skates connected to wood. Over the years, skateboards have developed modifications (like bent tips) that enable riders to perform street-tricks.

Many notable companies produce quality skateboard decks, including:
• Birdhouse
• Enjoi
• Flip
• Element
• Darkstar

By bending the ends of skateboard decks, riders can use the leverage to perform ollies – the most common street trick. To perform an ollie, use your back leg to press down on the kicktail and simultaneously jump forward, scraping your front foot up the grip tape. If done correctly, the board will come up with you.
