Cheap skateboards

Skating is a healthy, athletic activity but it’s never a good idea to buy a poorly-made skateboard; shoddy workmanship will only make the risk of injury greater. Even though the price of skate decks can reach upwards of $100, it’s better to invest in a high-quality board rather than unsafe, cheap skateboards.

What cheap skateboards should I avoid buying?
• Boards that feature cartoon characters – these are usually intended for very small children and will not be able to sustain wear and tear from normal use.
• Any board sold at a toy store or any large department store like Wal-Mart.
• Don’t buy second-hand decks – unlike skis or snowboards, skate decks don’t endure long enough to sustain multiple owners. There was a reason why they were sold in the first place.

Although buying cheap skateboards is not a good idea, there is no problem in buying discounted, new decks from a specialty internet site. Most online retailers let buyers customize their boards and offer special package deals if you buy a deck, wheels, and trucks together.
